George pursues a variety of artistic interests. In addition to painting he is a singer/songwriter and plays multiple instruments.
George works with oil paints. He finds the richness and luminosity of the medium deeply satisfying.
As for subject matter, George Haskell's first artistic love has always been landscape painting. He has always been captivated by the grandeur of Yosemite Valley; season by season, scene by scene and moment by moment. It is never the same valley twice. In addition to the Valley George has also produced work around his home town of Murphys. This body of work includes local barns and scenes from Big Trees State Park.
Painting pets is another focus. George has painted a variety of dogs and other animals. He is available to do pet portraits.

George began oil painting when he took a semi independent studies class in painting in college during the seventies. He has worked for the past decades to sharpen his skills. Artists Judy Cain, Susan Sarback and Heinie Hartwig have all been important teachers in his development as an artist. The resulting paintings are noted for their rich luminous use of color that capture the spirit of the subject at hand.
