For ArtistsThe Calaveras County Arts Council organizes thematic exhibitions to promote artistic excellence and to showcase work by members and artists throughout the Motherlode.
All 2-D artwork must be original work by the exhibiting artist, or if a print, the original work must have been created by exhibiting artist. Reference materials must belong to the artist, or the artist must have permission to use them. No workshop pieces are accepted. Our gallery in San Andreas is now open Monday through Thursday Noon to 4 p.m. We'll be selling artwork through the gallery and also at our online shop for select shows. Artists keep 80% of any sales; the gallery portion (20%) of the proceeds are used to help pay for administrative costs. Selling art online requires good quality photographs. We encourage artists to submit their own photographs for the website, but if artists can't do this, we are here to help! Email Kathy at goldrusharts18@gmail.com for more information. All artwork must be ready to hang; please use wire and D-rings (see link below for instructions) when possible or appropriate. Please label all art work on the back with the name of the artist; the title of the art; contact information; and the price. All art must be hand-delivered to the gallery. No shipped work will be accepted. |

June 1, 2022 Show In Gallery and online Reception Fall 2022 In harmony with the Calaveras Arts Council’s commitment to arts in education, they are collaborating on a fundraising project with the non-profit Calaveras Youth Organization (CYO) that supports and promotes youth music education in Calaveras County. This fundraiser will provide much needed support for music education programs in the Calaveras County Public Schools. All funds will be contributed to the purchase of new student guitars for the guitar class at Calaveras High School.
The CYO has 10 student guitars that are no longer playable and are not reparable (more guitars may become available, and there may be a piano available as well). The Arts Council is looking for 10 artists who will each take one of these guitars and create a work of art. You can paint them, deconstruct and reconstruct them, alter them, add to them, subtract from them. How would you re-imagine a guitar? Artists will donate their guitar artwork to this project; there will be no artist commission paid. The deadline for this project is June 1, 2022, with the altered guitars expected in the gallery by that date. The pieces will be sold during the summer of 2022, with a special event and gallery show after the school year begins, with all proceeds going to the CYO.
