The Calaveras County Arts Council organizes thematic exhibitions to promote artistic excellence and to showcase work by members and artists throughout the Motherlode.
All 2-D artwork must be original work by the exhibiting artist, or if a print, the original work must have been created by exhibiting artist. Reference materials must belong to the artist, or the artist must have permission to use them. No workshop pieces are accepted.
While our gallery in San Andreas is closed due to the pandemic, we will be displaying and selling the artwork on our website. Artists keep 80% of any sales; the gallery portion (20%) of the proceeds are used to help pay for administrative costs.
Selling art online requires good quality photographs. We encourage artists to submit their own photographs for the website, but if artists can't do this, we are here to help! Email Maggie at email@example.com for more information.
All artwork must be ready to hang; please use wire and D-rings (see link below for instructions) when possible or appropriate. Please label all art work on the back with the name of the artist; the title of the art; contact information; and the price.
All art must be hand-delivered to the gallery. No shipped work will be accepted.
ARTIST CALL TO ENTRY
GUITARS Un-STRUNG (working title)
Deadline to express interest: July 1, 2021
Artwork due: December 8, 2022
In harmony with the Calaveras Arts Council’s commitment to our Arts in Education program, we are designing a collaborative fundraising project with the Calaveras Youth Organization, a non-profit organization that supports and promotes youth music education in Calaveras County. This fundraiser will provide much needed support for music education programs in the Calaveras County Public School.
The CYO has 10 guitars that are no longer playable. We’re asking for 10 artists who will each take one of these guitars and create a work of art. You can paint them, deconstruct and reconstruct them, alter them, add to them, subtract from them. How would you re-imagine a guitar?
Artists will donate their guitar artwork to this project. The deadline for this project is December 8, 2021. The pieces will be raffled off during 2022, with the final raffle being held in the fall of 2022 at a special event and gallery show, with all proceeds going to the CYO.
The first place winner for their re-imagined guitar will win season tickets to the Ovations 2022 Performing Arts Series.
This show is open to 10 artists (because we have only 10 guitars!). If we have more than 10 artists express interest, we'll ask for each artist to submit a proposal. Please contact Fara Roberts at firstname.lastname@example.org to let us know of your interest before July 1.
