The Calaveras Arts Council is pleased to again award scholarships to those high school graduates wish to major in the arts. Scholarship are available for those attending community college, four year universities as well as arts trade schools. Vocations such as music, photography, dance, theater, graphic or digital arts, animation, and writing may all be considered.

Scholarships of up to $500 will be awarded.

When applying, you must be prepared to select a scholarship, complete the application, write a short essay describing art-related activities you have been involved in, a resume and/or a portfolio (see below), and two letters of recommendation. Note that the application process is not suitable for mobile devices.

There is no cost to apply. Scholarship funds can be used at your discretion towards advancing your artistic goals. Use it for tuition, supplies, equipment, rentals, any direct costs associated with your education or training.
You may apply for only one scholarship per year.
The application deadline for all scholarships in 2024 is March 15 at 5 p.m.
- Be a resident of Calaveras County
- Submit a completed application
- Submit a one page essay about yourself and why you are majoring in the arts
- Those seeking a scholarship to major in music, the dramatic arts and/or dance must include a one page performance resume
- Those seeking a scholarship to major in visual arts, ceramics, etc., must include must include photos/samples of their work.
- Those seeking a scholarship to major in writing must include a sample of their writing
- Submit two letters of recommendation
