Our 2024 POL Representative:Calaveras County was represented by the talented Rebecca Hungerford at the 19th Annual California Poetry Out Loud State Finals!
California is home to the largest Poetry Out Loud competition in the country. This year's program involved 18,849 students and 490 teachers from 221 schools across California. Rebecca confidently took the stage alongside 50 other county champions to prove the lasting power of the written word. Rebecca was one of the best that the state had to offer at this year's competition, and we are so proud of the work she put in. She recited, To Autumn by John Keats, Miss You. Would like to grab that chilled tofu we love. by Gabrielle Calvocoressi, and What the Oracle Said by Shara McCallum. Rebecca stated "The arts help me to express myself and provide an outlet for people to tell their own stories." and we could not agree more. Thank you for sharing your talents in representing Calaveras County, Rebecca.
