Deborah Marlene, has been a Calaveras County Resident and lived in the Central Sierra’s, for nearly 30 years. She currently resides in Mokelumne Hill, where she hasher in Home Studio.
Deborah loves watercolors, which she began studying in 1997, with Lura Francis. She also attended numerous Watercolor workshops with many renowned local artists, when first starting out with this medium. She says that she is constantly learning new tricks on how to control Watercolors. A more recent expression has been working with Alcohol Inks on tiles. “I love them for their vibrancy and have developed a method to allow them to be hung on walls for a small pop of color.” See her selection at the CCAC Studio Tour.
Deborah is a past member of the Arts of Bear Valley and currently holds membership in Calaveras County Arts Council, participating in most of their venues. She also volunteers and shows at the Calaveras County Fair. Now, showing at Mok Miscellany.
Deborah Marlene, does Commissioned Watercolors. And has completed about 10 paintings thus far of homes and historic sights of Mokelumne Hill. “ I currently have a painting of the Hotel Leger- done in 2023, which will be showing at the upcoming CCAC Studio Tour on September, along with 3 French landscape paintings, from my last trip.”
Deborah has been to France 7 times and loves its South Western Area. “I have lead experienced Plein Air Artists, and Friends 3 times to a village called Limoux. We stay in a restored Monastery for 2 weeks, fed breakfast daily and evening meals with wine - all nights but Wednesdays. From your landing to your departure- all transportation is included. This is a trip of a lifetime. The next being May 23rd to June 6th, 2026. You can contact me if interested. This is the last year of this outstanding 30 year business as the owners are retiring- so I do know it will sell out fast.”
Deborah Marlene teaches beginning to intermediate Watercolors, in her home studio. “I love to share my knowledge of this exciting medium; and my other interest of alcohol ink on tiles. I can be hired for in home parties.
