2020 Online Artists Studio Tours

CALAVERAS ONLINE ARTIST STUDIO TOUR APPLICATION DEADLINE: JULY 25, 2020
ONLINE GALLERY SHOW: SEPTEMBER THROUGH OCTOBER 2020

Special Covid-19 price break: $35
Register for Artists Studio Tours
Dear artists,
After much deliberation, the Calaveras Arts Council has decided that, due to the inherent risks of the Covid-19 pandemic for our artist and collectors, we don’t feel comfortable going forward with an in person 2020 Artists Studio; sadly we won’t be scheduling a live event this year.

We understand that this is a difficult year. Instead of our usual two-day September tour, we propose a different way to support our Artists Studio Tour artists.

This year, we will create an online event, which would last from September through October.

Normally registration would be $90, but this year only—to provide relief to Artists Studio Tour artists—the Arts Council will waive the normal entry fee of $65, and will require only the $35 membership fee.

We will accept the first 35 artist to sign up and pay their membership fee for the online event.

Previous participating artists in Artists Studio Tours will be given priority for this special offer until July 15; after that, registration will be advertised to the community. You must sign up online; no in-person or telephone applications will be taken. The last day to sign up to be included in the brochure is July 25.

The Arts Council support will include:

  • A printed brochure with a listing for up to 35 artists. Each listing will include information for each artist so that collectors can contact them. The brochure will be mailed via USPS to our constituents, and placed with businesses around Calaveras County.

  • A webpage for each artist, with up to 5 images of their work (artists are responsible to supply quality images of their work—please ask for help if you need it), with links to their own website, and/or social media. The webpage will stay up for a year.

  • An opportunity to be listed in an online shop with one piece of art on sale for each artist. The listed artwork will be exhibited in the physical gallery store in San Andreas and be available for viewing by appointment if the gallery is still closed.

  • A social media post on Facebook and Instagram for each artist with a link to their Facebook/Instagram account if they have one.

  • A press release to all local media.

  • If an artist holds a private studio tour during that time, we will share their information via Facebook.

  • The possibility of a limited number of filmed studio tours that will be viewable on our YouTube channel and shared via Facebook.

  • The possibility of an interview for our blog that will be publicized via Facebook and in our newsletter.

We feel this package offers excellent value to our artists, despite the disappointment of cancelling the studio tour in its usual format. This is new territory for us, and we ask that you follow our instructions to the letter to make things as smooth as possible for everyone.

Photos required

This year we are asking that  artists submit 3 to 5 photos of new work for advertising. Photos MUST be high resolution, at least 300 dpi and 5" on the longest side side.

A note about photos: Our organization, our event, and our artists ALL suffer if we use poor pictures in our showcases.  Please take time to get the best images of your work. Put your absolutely best images forward; they will help us sell you better. If you need help, please don't hesitate to ask.

Photo deadline to be in brochure and on poster: July 25, 2020
